tudies have been done to analyze the efficiency of the use of hyaluronic acid in patients awaiting knee replacement surgery, in order to delay the time until the knee replacement is needed.
In 2006, a study was carried out on 224 patients on the waiting list for knee surgery at the Jaén Hospital Complex. Obtaining very encouraging results with the viscosupplementation treatment, which delayed the time in all patients until they were finally referred to surgery.
This study was carried out for a period of 5 years, in which the patients received the viscosupplementation treatment with the NASHA Hyaluronic Acid product, DUROLANE
It was observed that the average waiting time for surgery in patients who didn’t receive treatment with Hyaluronic Acid was 694 days, while patients who did receive treatment lasted 1,093 days. Concluding that the viscosupplementation treatment with NASHA DUROLANE Hiauluronic Acid prolonged the time until the patients were finally operated up to 1.5 times.
